was a center for contemporary art in Southeast Portland, Oregon. It was led by a desire to support artists, propose new modes of production, and stimulate the ongoing public discourse around art. This website serves as an archive of Yale Union’s programming from 2011 through 2021.

Yale Union acknowledges that it occupies the traditional lands of the Multnomah, Chinook, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Tualatin Kalapuya, Molalla, and other Indigenous peoples.

Twelve minute improvisation of computer music based on a week of practice at Yale Union. Speakers were placed in the center of the room, at least 13 feet from the nearest wall. A pair of Neumann KM 184 microphones were used at a distance of eight feet from each speaker to create a N.O.S. (spaced) stereo mic configuration. The audio session is made up of three stereo recordings of the performance played in the room along with the internal computer audio and mono channel of the camcorder. Key strokes were tracked using Elite Keylogger. The audio synthesis program used for the improvisation was designed in Max/MSP by Madalyn Merkey and has been in continuous development since 2012.
